Garrison Bulldogs Stadium, Thursday, October 15, 2020 –

In a hard-fought District 10 2A varsity football game the Shelbyville Dragons came away with a 33-14 win over the Garrison Bulldogs on Thursday night. The win boosted the Dragons overall record to 3-2 and gave them their first conference win. They now stand at 1-1 in league play.

Scoring started slow with the game being scoreless until the Bulldogs got into the endzone with only 11 seconds left in the first half when Chadrick Henderson scored on an 11-yard touchdown reception. GHS went into the locker room ahead 7-0 at the midway break.

Less than thirty seconds into the third quarter AJ Cartwright scored on a 25-yard touchdown run which helped the Dragons tie the contest at 7-7.

Henderson scored his second touchdown with 7:21 remaining in the third stanza to help give GHS a 14-7 advantage.

Day Day Davis scored on a 64-yard run moments later to help Shelbyville tie the game at 14-14 with 6:43 left. The Dragons got an 11-yard score from Jakory Standley which boosted the SHS lead to 20-14 with 3:53 left in the period. With just 43 seconds in the third stanza, Standley added yet another score to boost the Dragons lead to 26-14.

Standley hit LD Coleman for the game’s final score, a 51-yard touchdown with 2:48 left in the contest.

The Dragons will host the Joaquin Rams next Friday, October 23, 2020 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Dragons Stadium.

All five Shelby County varsity football teams will compete in district games this week.

The Center Roughriders took a tough 56-14 road loss to the Carthage Bulldogs last Friday. Center is now 4-2 overall and they have a 0-1 District 10 4-A record. This week they will host the Shephard Pirates who are 1-5. They lost on the road at Madisonville last week by a 27-0 score.

The Joaquin Rams beat the San Augustine Wolves by a narrow 30-28 score on the road last week. The Rams are 2-0 in District 10 2A-1 action. Their overall record is 6-0. This Friday they will host the 1-4 West Hardin Oilers. The Oilers lost to the San Augustine Wolves by a 45-0 score on October 2.

The Shelbyville Dragons had a bye week. Their record stands at 1-3. The Dragons will travel to Garrison High School for a road game with the 2-4 Bulldogs. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020. GHS lost to Timpson last week by a 34-6 score.

The Timpson Bears enjoyed a 34-6 Homecoming win over the Garrison Bulldogs. Their record stands at 7-0 overall and their District 10 2A-1 record is 2-0. This Friday they will host the San Augustine Wolves at Bears Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

The Tenaha Tigers defeated the visiting West Sabine Tigers varsity football team by a 36-16 score. This win boosted the Tenaha District 11 2A conference mark to 3-0. They are atop the district standings. The THS season mark is now 4-2. Tenaha will travel to Mount Enterprise next Friday, October 16, 2020 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Wildcats Stadium.

Football

Center versus Shepherd will be played at Roughrider Stadium on October 16, 2020. The following ticket information applies:

You may purchase tickets at Center High School Athletic Office as follows:

Families of school participants only (Varsity football, Chaparrals, Cheer, and Band)

  • Monday and Tuesday - 8am to 4:30pm
  • 4 tickets per participant

General Admission (Wednesday through Friday)

  • Wednesday and Thursday - 8am to 4:30pm
  • Friday - 8am to noon

School Employees may come any day of the week and get one ticket free of charge and must come in person with school ID.

October 12, 2020 - The Shelbyville Dragons will play Garrison in Garrison on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 7:30 PM. The following ticket information applies:

Shelbyville has received 250 vouchers. Vouchers must be picked up at the SISD Guard booth Monday through Wednesday 8:30 am til 1:30 pm or until sold out. Spectators will take the voucher to the Visitor’s Ticket Booth in Garrison and pay $5 for entry. No tickets will be available at the gate in Garrison.

Monday - Parents of students who are participating in the event / Students participating in the event to include: Football players, cheerleaders and water girls. Limit 2 per Student Athlete / Participant’s Family.

***The band/majorettes/danceline will not be traveling to away games.

***For parents with multiple students participating, the number still remains at a limit of 2 vouchers per family.

Tuesday - Wednesday - or until sold out

General Public may pick up vouchers. Limit 3 per person

Tenaha, Raymond Jackson Stadium, Saturday, October 10, 2020 -

The Tenaha Tigers defeated the visiting West Sabine Tigers varsity football team by a 36-16 score. This win boosted the Tenaha District 11 2A conference mark at 3-0 atop the standings. The THS season mark is now 4-2.

Jeremy Patton got Tenaha on the board with an 8-yard touchdown run with 9:29 minutes left in the first quarter after West Sabine fumbled in the early going. Manuel Laredo kicked the extra point and THS took a 7-0 lead.

A Tray Tutt 22-yard touchdown reception, with 4:18 left in the opening stanza, helped boost the Tenaha lead to 14-0. Patton scored his second touchdown on a 38-yard scoring run with 10:42 left in the second quarter which gave THS a 22-0 advantage.

Tristin Claiborne added another touchdown onto Tenaha’s tally after he scored on a keeper after hitting Tutt on a 61-yard pass which had gotten the ball down close to the goal line. Tenaha led 30-0 at the midway break.

Julius Mason got West Sabine on the board with the only score of the third period, a 50-yard scamper that pulled WSHS to within 30-8 of the Tigers.

Tre Keggler extended Tenaha’s lead to 36-8 with a 17-yard touchdown run with 9:33 left in the game.

WSHS scored with just 2:46 remaining in the contest when Mason ran in from 5-yards out and West Sabine converted on a 2-point conversion run.

Tenaha will travel to Mount Enterprise next Friday, October 16, 2020 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Wildcats Stadium.

October 9, 2020 - Tigers vs. West Sabine Football has been moved to Saturday, October 10 at 6:00PM.

Being on the border of the path of Hurricane Delta makes travel for fans and players from West Sabine an uncertainty.

October 9, 2020 - The Joaquin vs. San Augustine Varsity football game scheduled for today, October 09 has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 10th at 6:00 pm and will still be played at San Augustine. 

There are limited tickets still available at the Joaquin Administration Office. Go Rams!

Update: According to Coach David Benbow, the game for tomorrow, October 8, 2020 in Madisonville vs Sacred Heart has been cancelled. Sorry for the inconvenience.

October 7, 2020 - Shelbyville Varsity will play against Hallettsville Sacred Heart, Madisonville, TX on Thursday, October 8th with a 7pm kickoff. Shelbyville is visitor. Tickets are $5 adults and $3 students. No pre-sale. All tickets sold at the gate. There is a 700 capacity for the Visiting side. The field is located at 811 South May Street, Madisonville, Texas.
