Janaury 10, 2022 - This past Friday, the Center Lady Rider's varsity basketball team opened the district with a 39-29 win over Rusk.

During the game, Mahalia Ratcliff (Sr.) paced with 13 points and Gabby Whisenant (Sr.) was seconded in points with 9 followed by May Johnson (Soph.) with 8.

On Tuesday, January 11th, varsity and junior varsity will play Jasper at home with games starting at 5pm. To view the Girls Basketball schedule, click here.

The team is led by Head Coach Corey Loverson and Assistant Coach Ryley Beckham.

January 10, 2021 - The Center Roughrider girls soccer team kicked off their 2022 season last week with two victories in non district games. Center won against Crockett on Tuesday, January 4th with a final score of 7-0. Center got their second win on Friday, January 7 with a score of 12-0 against Diboll.

The team will take to the field tomorrow, January 11 against Cumberland Academy at home with a game time of 5pm. The team is lead by Head Coach Madison Holyfield, Assistant Coach Jordan LaTrache, Woman's Athletic Director Sara Rupp, and Athletic Director Ricky Meeks.

The Center Lady Roughriders took a 39-29 win over the visiting Rusk Lady Eagles on Friday during a District 17 4A conference game. The Lady ‘Riders defense started out strong and only allowed Rusk a single point during the first period. Center took an 8-1 advantage into the second quarter.

Rusk scored 11 points during the second stanza and CHS held a 18-12 lead at the midway intermission.

The Lady Eagles clawed their way back into the contest and cut the Lady Roughriders lead to five points at 26-21 going into the fourth quarter.

CHS was able to outpace Rusk 13-8 points in the final frame to take the ten-point win. Mahalia Ratcliff led the Lady 'Riders scoring with 14 points.

Coach Corey Loverson’s staff, and the Lady Roughriders, will prepare to host the Jasper Lady Bulldogs next Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in their second district matchup. Junior varsity will tip off at 5 p.m. and varsity play will follow.

January 7, 2022 - The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce invites spectators to attend the SoSo Classic 2022 Disc Golf Tournament held in SoSo Park, Timpson on Saturday, January 8th, 2022.

Come watch a ton of great golfers compete for big $$$! There will also be food and snack vendors on site, so come watch and enjoy.

Spectators are asked to remain quiet during all play and to have their phones off or on silent during any of the disc throws. Spectators should always walk behind the players and out of line of throw and not advance until the last player in the group throws for the basket.

Parking will be outside of the Park only. This is a Professional C-Tier PDGA tournament. Miles Seaborn is the director. First throw will start between 8-8:30am Saturday morning.

Timpson High School on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 –

The Timpson Bears defeated the visiting Tenaha Tigers by an 84-54 score in Tuesday’s District 23 Class 2A conference varsity basketball game. The Bears are now 10-3 for the season and they have a 2-0 conference mark. The Tigers are 1-1 in district play and they are 7-4 overall.

Timpson trailed 7-8 midway through the first period but the Bears gained a 12-7 lead with three minutes left in the opening period and they never trailed again. By the midway break Timpson led 47-21.

At the end of the third stanza Timpson had built a 65-34 advantage on their way to the 84-54 point win.

Leading scorers for the Bears were Terry Bussey with 34 points, Jackson Campbell 21, Donovan Crockett 17 and Braden Courtney with 10. For Tenaha Jordan Ross scored 18, Charles Hervey 16 and Avanta Fredieu had 11 points.

Timpson will travel to Joaquin Rams Gymnasium on Friday, January 7, 2022 for district play with the Rams. JV girls and boys action begins at 4:30 p.m. and varsity action will follow.

Tenaha will host the San Augustine Wolves Friday, January 7. JV action starts at 4:30 p.m. with varsity following.

January 4, 2022 - The Joaquin Powerlifting team's first competition is in Garrison on Thursday, January 20th at 4pm. Boys and girls will be competing. January 3, 2022 - The Joaquin Lady Rams are gearing up for the 2022 Softball season. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will play their first game away on February 5 against Elysian Fields at 11am. Click here to see the full updated schedule.

Tenaha Special Events Center on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 –

Local teams competing at this year’s Tenaha Holiday Hoops basketball tournament have wrapped up their competition.

The Joaquin Rams was defeated Wednesday in a Boy’s Consolation Bracket B final by Kermit High School.

The Tenaha Tigers overcame county rival Shelbyville in a Boy’s Bracket A Consolation Final game on Wednesday.

The Timpson Bears Boy’s team fell to Little River Academy’s Bumble Bees by a narrow 67-65 score which gave the Bears a fourth-place finish.

The Tenaha Lady Tigers took a 44-37 win over the Lovelady Lady Lions to earn a third-place finish.

Shelbyville’s Lady Dragons team took a Consolation win over the Tatum Lady Eagles.

The Timpson Lady Bears took a fifth-place trophy after defeating Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill.

Both the girls and boys tournament championship games resulted in a Lipan High School win over Douglass to finish the tournament Wednesday night.
