Center's 4-H Meeting Re-Scheduled

March 22, 2016 - We just received notification that the Center 4-H Meeting that has been scheduled for tonight, (March 22) has been cancelled.

The meeting is re-scheduled for March 29, 2016 at 6:00PM at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Center.

Shelby County 4-H Rabies Vaccination Clinics

March 18, 2016 - Shelby County 4-H Clubs in cooperation with local veterinarian Mark Jousan will sponsor rabies vaccination clinics Saturday, April 2nd and 9th. Dr. Mark Jousan will be vaccinating dogs and cats for rabies.

Pet owners are urged to have their pets vaccinated annually for rabies. The Shelby County Extension Agents and the 4-H Clubs of Shelby County encourage you to bring your pets to be vaccinated for only $10.00 each.

Shelby County Fit 5K Fun Run and Walk

March 11, 2016 - Dust off those walking or running shoes and join the 2016 class of Step Up and Scale Down participants as we “Walk Across Texas.” This 5K Fun Run and Walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at the Center Park pond pavilion behind the baseball fields with registration open beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Shelby County Beekeepers Club to Meet

March 10, 2016 - The Shelby County Beekeepers Club will meet on Wednesday, March 16th at the active Shelby County courthouse, 2nd floor meeting room at 11:30am Mike Bordelon will show a variety of beetle traps and demonstrate how they are used in the hive to control the beetle problem. Bring a lunch and meet beekeepers from the East Texas area.

Official Shelby County Livestock Show & Auction Results

March 9, 2016 - The 11th Annual Shelby County 4-H & FFA Livestock Show was held March 3, 2016 at the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Arena. Weigh in of market animals started at 7:30 and lasted until 9:00. The show started at 10:00 with rabbits being judged by Mrs. Sherry Poindexter of San Augustine, TX. Dr. Billy Zanolini, who is a Texas A&M 4-H Livestock Specialist, judged the lambs, goats, swine, and cattle. Dr. Zanolini was very informative and interactive with the children and animals. There were over 90 exhibitors at this year’s show.

March 1, 2016 - Are you interested in learning basic machine sewing? Would you like to learn how to make a beginning quilt that you can enter in the Poultry Festival this fall? Shelby County Livestock Show and Sale

February 25, 2016 - Plans for the 2016 Annual Shelby County Livestock Show are set. The show will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at the Shelby County Expo Center. The sale will be held Saturday, March 5th, at the John Dean Windham Civic Center, meal starting at 6:00PM.

4th Annual San Antonio Rodeo Jr. Shootout

Lance Holloway placed 2nd in the rodeo challenge and also runner up in Lewis Class 2 trap.
