March 4, 2021 - Get Up off the couch, dust off those walking shoes and join in as we “Walk Across Texas!” Recruit a group of eight people or sign up as a solo walker and participate with other teams and individuals to walk and get back active over eight weeks from March 15 – May 3, 2021.
March 3, 2021 - The 16th Annual Shelby County 4-H and FFA Livestock Show was held February 27, 2021 at the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Arena with over 100 exhibitors. Weigh-in of market animals started at 7:30 a.m. and the show began at 10:00 a.m. with rabbits judged by Mr. Frank Farrow. Carl Muntean, judged the lambs, goats, swine, and cattle. Both judges were very informative and interactive with the youth and animals. The Buyers Appreciation dinner and Livestock Auction was held later the same day at the John Dean Windham Civic Center.
February 19, 2021 - While February is best known for Valentine’s Day, did you know that it is also American Heart Month? This February, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in partnership with the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Health & Fitness Committee and Allegiance Mobile Health recommends giving your heart love, too, by being aware of heart problems and the steps you can take to prevent them.
October 29, 2020 - A major problem for many hay producers this summer. Shelby County Agrilife Extension is hosting a forage seminar with emphasis on crabgrass control on November 10, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Extension Gym. 2 CEU credits will be offered for those with a private applicators license. October 28, 2020 (Registration Form) - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is pleased to announce the 2020 East Texas Ag Expo CEU Recertification program is November 4th at the Nacogdoches County Expo for pesticide applicators licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Registration is at 8am and the course will be conducted from 9am until 3:05pm.

September 24, 2020 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Shelby, Harrison and Rusk County have partnered to offer a comprehensive diabetes education series called, “Do Well Be Well with Diabetes.”
The five-session series will provide participants with the latest information on managing diabetes by focusing on “how food affects blood glucose,” “eating the right number of carbohydrates,” “going beyond the diet and physical activity: improving blood glucose control with medication,” and “celebrating diabetes control and avoiding complications.”
September 2, 2020 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is offering a great opportunity for those interested in 4-H Shooting Sports. 4-H Shooting Sports Coaches Certification Training will be held September 19 and 20, 2020 at the incredible Hawkeye Hunting Club facility here in Shelby County.
