On this day, in 1836, a portrait painter named Samuel Morse demonstrated a machine that would transmit messages electronically. He called it the telegraph. It was the first time in human history that that had happened. It changed the world.
January 5, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, January 5.
The Christmas holidays are over, but the biggest part of Texas winter is still to come. Texas winters are unpredictable. You're never sure what you're gonna get. It could be three months of mild weather, with no hard freezes, or it could include a week like we endured two winters ago, with ice and snow and temps in the single digits. You just never know about a Texas winter.

This is a time of year when a lot of us are thinking about “time”. How can we use our time more wisely? How can we better organize our time? And then there’s that question that comes to all those of a certain age - How much time do I have left?

December 15, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 15.
When you think of great hymn stories maybe you think of John Newton standing on the deck of his slave ship before he was amazingly saved - and wrote Amazing Grace. Or maybe you think of Horatio Spafford standing on the deck of an ocean liner looking out at the spot where his family's ship went down - before he went back to his stateroom and, in his grief, wrote It is Well With My Soul. The greatest story behind a Christmas carol isn't nearly that dramatic... but it is memorable.
December 14, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, December 14.
Have you ever wondered why God created angels? What is their purpose? How are they different from us? I recommend Billy Graham’s book “Angels”. It answers questions like these and is a fascinating read. He reminds us that, above all else, angels were created to do God’s will. The word angel means “messenger” and they certainly serve that purpose in the Christmas story as they share the good tidings with Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds.
