August 29, 2020 - Shelbyville Street in Center at the intersection of Elliot Street is the scene of a collision with a pickup truck and utility pole August 29, 2020 at around 4:30pm.

August 27, 2020 - Shelby County Commissioners are currently working to assess the damage incurred in the area resulting from Hurricane Laura.

Charles Barr, Precinct 3 Commissioner, advises a lot of downed trees are wrapped in power lines and are not able to be handled by commissioner crews.

If anyone sees down power lines, wrapped in trees or not, contact Deep East Texas Electric Co-op, SWEPCO, or whoever your electric provider may be.

Further updates are expected from county officials as the extent of the damage is realized.

August 26, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners approved for the County Auditor to conduct an audit of the District Attorney Forfeiture/Seizure funds during their meeting held Wednesday morning, August 26, 2020.

August 24, 2020 - Shelbyville Street in Center was the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle Thursday, August 20, 2020.

August 23, 2020 - The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a two-vehicle crash on CR 1430, when one driver is reported to have struck another in reverse.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones, Friday, August 21, 2020, at 1:01pm a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 15-year-old minor driver was traveling on CR 1430, when the driver passed a driveway where he was intending to turn. 

The driver stopped and backed without safety and struck a Kia Sol driven by Barbara Simmons Fulbright, 47, of Center.
