September 9, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners chose to abandon a portion of CR 2020 and to lease a location for the Justice of the Peace and Constable for Precinct 5 during their meeting held September 9, 2020.
Discussions have been ongoing at previous meetings over CR 2020, and many instances of trash being dumped along the road. The most horrific circumstances were that of the body of a man being burned and dumped on the roadway.
September 9, 2020 - Hurst Street at the intersection of Foster Street was once again the scene of a major two-vehicle collision early Monday, September 9, 2020.
One vehicle remained in the roadway, while another was in a deep drainage ditch when emergency personnel arrived.
September 8, 2020 - The Timpson square Tuesday, September 8, 2020 was the scene where two men allegedly began shooting at one another in front of a beauty salon, as reported by law enforcement.
Update: Multiple areas have trees down on SH 87 South and FM 414. Use caution if traveling through the area.
September 4, 2020 - Travelers should be aware all four lanes of State Highway 87 South near FM 414 are blocked by a tree as of 8:48pm. Emergency crews are en-route to the scene to clear the debris. Anyone traveling through this area should either consider an alternate route, or wait until the scene is clear.
September 4, 2020 - Tenaha ISD has reported, through its social media, several cases of COVID-19.
The following statement includes the information they released:
Dear parents and staff,
At this time, Tenaha ISD has confirmation of four positive tests for Covid-19 among students and staff since school released due to Hurricane Laura. Three of the four positive tests have not been on campus within 7 days of the test result, and the fourth case was last on campus on Tuesday, September 1.
September 3, 2020 - As the battle continues against COVID-19, Shelby County is daily faced with the difficulty of new cases.
In an effort to keep the public informed, and to provide transparency throughout this struggle which everyone is facing, Timpson ISD has shared two cases have occurred and recently been reported.
The following is what was shared on the school's social media page Wednesday evening:
September 3, 2020 - Heavy rains blew through Shelby County on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 which resulted in traffic incidents on two highways causing delays.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to State Highway 7 West near CR 1170 at 12:35pm.
