May 16, 2025 - Both the Dragons and Lady Dragons of Shelbyville are still in playoff action this weekend:

The Dragons are in Round III of the UIL Playoffs against the Frankston Indians. Thursday night in Carthage, the Dragons took Game 1 with a 5-2 victory.

The Lady Dragons are in Round IV (Regional Championship) against the Lady Bulldogs of Corrigan-Camden. Last night on the field next door to the guys in Carthage, the Lady Dragons fell 8-12 in Game 1.

Friday night, May 16th both teams will play in Game 2, and Pineywoods Sports will provide the live stream for both games on the NFHS Network. (As the partner of the UIL, the network owns the rights to all state playoffs and requires a monthly or yearly subscription to view the games.)

As the visiting team, the Dragons hope to win the series in Game 2 vs the Indians in Tatum, TX. First pitch is 6pm with Chris Watlington on the call; the Pregame Show should begin at 5:45pm. Carthage Bulldogs Baseball Complex on Thursday, May 15, 2025 –

The Shelbyville Dragons varsity baseball team took a 5-2 run Game 1 win over the Frankston Indians on Thursday at Carthage Bulldogs Ballpark. The game was the beginning of a best-of-three game series between the two teams and is a Texas UIL State Region III Semifinal Elimination Playoff. The win improves the Dragons season mark to 24-7-1 and Frankston stands at 23-7.

Shelbyville gained an early lead when Gavin McDonald led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to leftfield. He moved to third base on a passed ball and then scored on a ground ball put in play by Tanor Doggett. Morgan Doggett drew a walk and scored later in the inning on a base hit to centerfield by Jaxon Lambright which put SHS up 2-0.

In the bottom of the fifth inning the Dragons extended their lead to 5-0 runs when McDonald started off the inning with a triple to left-centerfield, Tanor Doggett followed with an RBI single to centerfield. Doggett scored when the Indians committed an error on a ball put in play by Gus Duvon. Lambright later drove in Duvon with an infield hit.

The Indians later gained runs by Tucker Palmer and Carter Stibbens to cut the Dragons lead to 5-2 in the top of the sixth frame but this score ultimately held up for the remainder of the seven-inning contest.

Dallas Murry earned the win pitching for SHS and he gave up just three hits, struck out four and walked five.

Carson Bizzell and Kason Poe pitched for FHS and they teamed up to give up nine hits, walked three and struck out four.

Game 2 will be at Tatum Eagles Ballpark today, Friday May 6, 2025 at 6 p.m. If needed game 3 will be at Tatum at noon on Saturday May 17.

May 12, 2025 - Shelbyville Varsity Softball will play in the Regional Finals vs Corrigan-Camden as the home team on Thursday, May 15, at 6pm in Carthage. Entry is adults $8 and kids $5.

The second game will be as the away team on Friday, May 16, at 6pm in Hudson. If needed, game three will be Saturday, May 17, at 12 noon in Hudson. The teams will flip for home. Entry in Hudson is adults $8 and kids $5.

The Lady Dragons will be the first base dugout at all 3 games.

Passes that will be accepted are TGCA, THSCA, and Senior citizens. Same passes will be accepted as last week.

The second game will be held Friday, May 16, at 6pm in Tatum and the Dragons will be the Visitor on first base side. If needed, game three is at 12 noon in Tatum on Saturday, May 17. The team will flip for home. Entry in Tatum is $5 for everyone.

Passes that will be accepted are TGCA, THSCA, and Senior citizens. Same passes will be accepted as last week.

The Shelbyville Lady Dragons won their Region III Softball Semifinal Game 3 by a 9-3 score over the Alba-Golden Panthers. They will now move on to the Region III finals where they will play Corrigan-Camden next week.

Bullard Panthers Ballpark on Thursday, May 8, 2025 –

After the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers fell by a 7-6 run score in Game 1 of a best-of-three game Texas UIL Semifinal Softball Playoff with the Shelbyville Lady Dragons on Wednesday, The Lady Panthers rebounded and evened the series with a 7-6 Game 2 win of their own on Thursday.

The Lady Panthers loaded the basepaths with two outs in the bottom of the first innings but rallied to go up 3-0 when Jayla Sitar scored on a hit-batter. Then a Lilly Thorn base hit scored two more.

Kylie Snell and Lanie Bass each reached base in the top of the second inning. A Nicole Harvey bunt scored Snell and later Taylor Jones put a ball in play which scored Bass. The Lady Dragons had cut the Panther’s lead to 3-2 runs going into the third inning. An Alexis Wilmut homerun over the centerfield wall helped the lady Panthers extend their lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Carsey Lovell singled to begin the top of the fifth inning and she later scored to pull the Lady Dragons to with a 6-4 score. Snell reached base on a fielder’s choice moments later and she scored on a single by Bass to help SHS pull to within 6-5.

Bass struck out two Panthers batters in the bottom of the fifth inning and a third Panther was called out due to baseline interference. Leaving the game at Panthers 6 Dragons 5 going into the sixth inning. The Lady Dragons were able to tie the game at 6-6 runs when Taylor Jones reached on a bunt and later scored on Lovell single and an error.

The game remained tied at 6-6 runs until Adielyn Smith doubled to rightfield in the bottom of the seventh and later scored on a teammates infield hit which broke the tie and won the game.

Lanie Bass struck out eight, walked three and gave up nine hits pitching for Shelbyville. Adielyn Smith struck out seven, walked three and gave up seven hits for Alba-Golden.

The lady Panthers now stand at 21-9 for the season and the lady Dragons are at 22-11. They faced off at Tyler Legacy High School Friday, for the final Game 3 and the Lady Dragon took a 9-3 win to advance.

May 8, 2025 - The Shelbyville Lady Dragons won the first game in the Regional Semi-Finals against Alba-Golden 7-6. Game 2 in Bullard is today at 6pm. May 5, 2025 - Shelbyville Varsity Softball has made it to the Regional Semi-Finals!! The Lady Dragons will play Alba-Golden in Bullard on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 at 6pm both days. If needed, game 3 will play at Tyler Legacy on Friday, May 9. The Lady Dragons will be the home team Wednesday and the away team Thursday.

The Shelbyville Dragons varsity baseball team took an 11-0 run baseball win over the Mount Enterprise Wildcats on Wednesday during a Texas UIL Region III Area Baseball Playoff. The playoff was a Game 1 of a best-of-three game elimination playoff.

Shelbyville went up 2-0 runs in the bottom of the first inning when Gavin McDonald led off the inning by drawing a walk and he later scored on a Tanor Doggett sacrifice fly. Gus Duvon later scored on an inside the park solo homerun to rightfield. Shelbyville extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second frame with scores by DJ Barnes and Tanor Doggett.

Shelbyville exploded for six runs in a rally during the bottom of the third inning which saw the Dragons bring 11 batters to the plate before the Wildcats could end the inning with SHS leading 10-0.

Tate Obregon started the bottom of the fourth inning off for the Dragons by hitting a towering triple to the centerfield wall. He later scored the final run of the contest by stealing his way home on a wild pitch behind the Wildcat’s pitcher.

Dallas Murry pitched all five innings for SHS and he struck out nine, gave up one walk and allowed a single hit.

Jaxon Jones was the losing pitcher for MEHS. He struck out one, walked six and gave up eight hits in 2 2/3 innings. Aiden Rodgers pitched the remainder of the game for the Wildcats giving up two hits, striking out two and walking one.

The two teams will face off for Game 2 of the series at Carthage Bulldogs Ballpark tomorrow, May 8 at 7 p.m. Shelbyville stands at 22-7-1 and Mount Enterprise is at 11-7-2 for the season.

 On Wednesday, Shelbyville ISD invited the community to their Integrated Athletics which was held at Shelbyville Football Field. Opening Ceremonies kicked off the day with dozens of athletes, support staff and coaches participating.

The Integrated Athletics brings together athletes of all abilities together celebrating inclusivity in athletic activities and teaches sportsmanship to participants from all of Shelby County schools and some surrounding areas.

Smiles were spotted throughout the day and the activities and competition went from the morning into the afternoon.

May 6, 2025 - Shelbyville ISD would like to invite the community to our Integrated Athletics event that will be hosted at Shelbyville Football Field on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Opening Ceremonies will begin at 9am.

Integrated Athletics is an event that brings together athletes of all abilities, celebrating inclusivity and sportsmanship from all Shelby County schools.
