December 10, 2025 - The deadline to file to be listed on the March 2026 Primary Ballot has passed. The only race to have Democratic and Republican candidates was the Commissioner Precinct 4 position which means the race will not be decided until the November 2026 General Election. Also, in the Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 race, Richard Lundie filed an intent to run in the November 2026 General Election as an indepentent. Lundie will have to follow through with additional requirements including a supporting nominating petition before he will be listed on the November ballot.
December 6, 2025 - The Texas A&M Forest Service awarded the second round of equipment grants for Fiscal Year 2026 on December 5, 2025. Approximately $17.6 million in grants was awarded
to Texas volunteer fire departments and five Shelby County fire department were listed among the 753 departments receiving grant funding.
December 1, 2025 - The Shelby County Historic Courthouse on the downtown square will be open for a Christmas Open House hosted by the William Carroll Crawford Daughters of the Republic of Texas on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Doors will be open at 4:30pm until the Community Tree Lighting at 6pm.
November 29, 2025 - The National Weather Service Shreveport, Louisiana forecasts rain will return to the area late tonight. Rain is likely from 3am-6am and then in the afternoon 3pm-9pm followed by occassional, on-and-off rain from 9pm through midnight. Rain returns to likely from midnight until 3am Sunday with only a slight chance of rain through 12-noon.
November 22, 2025 - The Joaquin Rams seized the 2025 UIL Texas Football Conference 2A Division I Region 3 Area Championships with a decisive 41-8 victory.
