David's Daily Devotion for May 6

May 6, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, May 6.

Mother’s Day is coming! And during this week leading to that BIG Sunday, we’re focusing our little daily thoughts on “all things mom”. Today, a story behind a song. You can tell a lot about somebody by their favorite song. Do you know your mother’s favorite?

David’s Daily Devotion for May 5

May 5, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, May 5.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and so all this week we’re focusing on moms. This morning we remember a Bible character that the Bible says very little about. She’s only mentioned a few times, and during part of her story she isn’t even referred to by name. But we know her name. It was Jochebed. And she was the mother of Moses.

David's Daily Devotion for May 1

May 1, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, May 1. Something lighter today . . .

I love words. I find them endlessly fascinating. And sometimes very confusing. For instance, how is it possible that flammable and inflammable mean the same thing? Here’s some more synonyms that sound like they should actually be opposites.

valuable / invaluable
bone / debone
regardless / irregardless
press / depress
and my personal favorite... caregiver / caretaker

And then there’s those words that seem like they should mean the same thing - but don’t.

April 30, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, April 30.

You probably realize that every day of the year has dozens and dozens of special “national” observances. Today, for instance, is National Golf Day, National Adopt a Pet Day, National Oatmeal Cookie Day, and, of course, National Bugs Bunny Day. If you doubt me on any of this, I remind you that today is also... National Honesty Day!

David’s Daily Devotion for Apr. 24

April 24, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, April 24.

I’ve got a barn on my property. It’s red - which I believe is a law. But since I’m not a farmer, it’s not filled with cows and hay. It’s filled with lots of boxes which are filled with lots of stuff, all the stuff that I don’t have room for in my house. Lately I’ve been taking advantage of the lovely spring weather to do some spring cleaning. I’ve been going through barn box after barn box, and I’ve been left with a single thought - Why in the world did I keep all this stuff?

David's Daily Devotion for April 23

April 23, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, April 23.

There’s a famous quote, sometimes attributed to Dr. Martin Luther King, that goes like this - “11:00 on Sunday morning is the most segregated hour of the week”. That’s more than just an opinion, statistics bear it out. This Sunday morning, 80% of church members will attend a church where their race is in the overwhelming majority. Most likely you’re one of them.
