David’s Daily Devotion for June 17

June 17, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, June 17.

My neighbor has a big white dog whose name, surprisingly, is “Whitey”. He’s a Great Pyrenees and weighs in at around 150 pounds. My neighbor knows that Whitey is his dog. I know that Whitey is his dog. Someone, however, has forgotten to inform Whitey of this. Whitey spends most of his time at my house.

David's Daily Devotion for June 16

June 16, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, June 16.

I read somewhere that the Eskimos have hundreds of different names for “snow”. I’m not sure that that’s true, but it’s an interesting idea - the idea that the more important something is to you, the more you’ll think about it, and the more ways you’ll try to describe it. Snow must be pretty important to Eskimos.

With that in mind, here - off the top of my head - are some synonyms of the word “heaven”.

David's Daily Devotion for June 13

June 13, 2025 - Good Morning! And Happy Friday the 13th!

Any given year can have up to three Friday the 13th’s - or as few as one. The people who suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia will be glad to hear that 2025 has just one. Paraskevidekatriaphobia is the fear of this dreaded day, and it’s also a word you don’t want to get in a spelling bee. This particular superstition ranks right up there with walking under a ladder, breaking a mirror, or crossing paths with a black cat.

David's Daily Devotion for June 12

June 12, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, June 12.

On June 12, 1942, a girl turned thirteen. One of her birthday gifts was a small book with a lock on the front, a diary. She began writing in it that very first day, but wondered how the happenings of her humdrum life could ever fill its pages. Less than a month later, the life of Anne Frank changed forever.

David's Daily Devotion for June 10

June 10, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s June 10.

I’m pretty old-school when it comes to writing. These daily devotions end up on my computer, but they begin on a yellow pad, written by a pen. And not just any pen. It has to be the “Pilot Precise Rolling Ball VS Extra Fine”. I’m not particularly particular about most things. If my coffee’s hot, that’s good enough for me. If a car gets me where I need to go, I don’t care that much about what it looks like. But when it comes to pens - there is only one choice. There is no substitute.

David's Daily Devotion for June 9

June 9, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, June 9.

I’m a long time student of poetry. A poem can inspire you, can comfort you, can teach you, can change you. One of my favorite poets is William Blake, an eccentric English genius who was also an accomplished painter and composer. Blake had a complicated and challenging relationship with Christianity, but he also wrote this simple, sentimental poem - “The Lamb”.

David’s Daily Devotion for June 5

June 5, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, June 5.

Quick! What word is found the most times in the Bible? Forget about the little ones like “and” and “the”. What meaningful word occurs more than any other word in God’s Word? Got your answer ready? OK, here we go!

In 5th place - the word “people”, 2270 times.  Proverbs 29:11 - “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns a people.”

4th - “Israel”, 2750 times. Isaiah 46:13 - “I will establish my salvation in Zion, my splendor in Israel.”

David's Daily Devotion for June 4

June 4, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, June 4.

Today we focus on purpose and position. Do you believe that God has a particular purpose for your life? If so, has He placed you in a particular position to fulfill that purpose? I believe that the Bible would answer both these questions with a resounding “Yes!”, and demonstrates this, time and time again, through the life stories of its characters - characters like the Apostle Paul.
