“Sing to the Lord with praise; make music to our God on the harp.” Psalm 147:7
What do you think of when you hear the word “harp”? You probably get a mental picture of the modern concert harp, a huge instrument over six feet tall and weighing over a hundred pounds. It has 47 strings and a range almost as wide as a grand piano.

On May 14, 1984, a baby boy was born in White Plains, New York. His name was Mark Elliot Zuckerberg. At the tender age of 19, he created a website called The Facebook. Later, the “The” was dropped. Facebook is now the third most visited internet site in the world, behind Google and YouTube. More than 3 billion people use it regularly. I’m guessing that you’re probably one of them.

On May 13, 1767, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his first opera. He was eleven years old! He actually began writing music when he was four. At four, I was learning to tie my shoes. When he was eight, Mozart finished his first symphony. I, on the other hand, was conducting a serious study of Saturday morning cartoons.

Have you ever asked the question - Why do bad things happen to good people? I believe that we’ve all wondered that at one time or another, and that question reminds me of the story behind a Christian song.
I’m a committed collector - record albums and sheet music, vintage cameras and antique telephones, old coins and music boxes, political buttons and coca-cola memorabilia, wooden boxes and ceramic elephants. But my favorite thing to collect, and my biggest collection... is books. My latest library count is about 2000 volumes. Some people buy fancy cars. Some people buy boats or fine watches or the latest fashions. I buy books.
With this devotion, we complete our week-long series on mothers, leading to Mother’s Day. How many Bible moms can you name? Five? Fifty? Your list might include such notable women of scripture as Eve, Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Naomi. However long your list might be, I’m certain it would include one particular woman, a mother named Mary.
What can you tell me about the following women - Anna Pertl, Nancy Hanks, Pauline Koch, and Morrow Coffey? Well, unless you cheated and googled it, I’m pretty sure you didn’t recognize any of them. But they gave us the world’s greatest composer, greatest president, greatest scientist, and greatest evangelist. These women are the mothers of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, and Billy Graham!

Mother’s Day is coming! And during this week leading to that BIG Sunday, we’re focusing our little daily thoughts on “all things mom”. Today, a story behind a song. You can tell a lot about somebody by their favorite song. Do you know your mother’s favorite?
Mother’s Day is this Sunday and so all this week we’re focusing on moms. This morning we remember a Bible character that the Bible says very little about. She’s only mentioned a few times, and during part of her story she isn’t even referred to by name. But we know her name. It was Jochebed. And she was the mother of Moses.
If you’re a regular reader of these Daily Devotions, then you probably know that I’m a big fan of quotes. There’s a big day coming this Sunday for moms, and we’ll be focusing on them all week, but let’s begin with some quotes to prepare us for Mother’s Day.
