February 16, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, February 16. Happy President’s Day! This is one of those three-day-weekend holidays that doesn’t have any special songs or traditions, or really much meaning or resonance. The birthdays of Lincoln and Washington are both around this time of February, so I guess that’s the connection. Perhaps it could be a day to remember and honor all of our U.S. presidents.

Ever wondered who Saint Valentine was? Well, he was a priest who lived in Italy, way back in the 3rd century. His work was primarily ministering to persecuted Christians, and he died a martyr’s death in Rome - on February 14. Two hundred years later he was granted sainthood, and February 14 was designated by the Church as a holy day.

Tonight marks the 62nd anniversary of a momentous moment. 78 million Americans tuned their TVs to the Ed Sullivan Show, and the world of popular music was changed forever, as four young lads from Liverpool took the stage. John, Paul, George, and Ringo - The Beatles. Maybe some of you were watching. It was a Sunday night, so I was at church!
February 6, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, February 6.
On this day, in 1936, the Parker Brothers Company premiered a new game. They called it “Monopoly”. Over 300 million sets have been sold since that day, in 37 different languages. I assume, with some level of confidence, that you’ve played this game, and I imagine that there’s probably a Monopoly set in your closet.
February 5, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, February 5.
We are right smack dab in the middle of the cold and flu season. So, the important question of the day is - What do you say when someone sneezes? In the year 1600, Pope Gregory declared that the proper response was “God bless you!” Aren’t you glad that you’re a Daily Devotion reader and get the benefit of little tidbits of trivia like that? By the way, when the pope made that decree, the world was suffering from a pandemic - not Covid... the Plague!
