David’s Daily Devotion for Apr. 3

April 3, 2026 - Good Morning!  It’s Friday, April 3, and we’ve come to the end of our series “The Road to Resurrection”.  We’ve come to the end of Holy Week.  We’ve come to Good Friday.

Over the last four days we’ve witnessed Christ’s encounters with friends and foes, with those who loved Him, and with those who plotted against Him.  And then on Friday - Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Man, the Good Shepherd, the Prince of Peace, our Messiah, our Lord, our Savior - was savagely nailed to a rugged Roman cross.

April 2, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, April 2.

Tonight I have the opportunity to do something I’ve never done before, but have always wanted to do - I’m going to a Jewish Seder. I’ve heard teachers teach about the Seder. I’ve heard preachers preach about the Seder. I’ve read my share of material about it. But there’s no education more effective than personal experience, and this evening, at long last, I’ll experience the Jewish Passover ceremony called . . . the Seder.

April 1, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, April 1.

We continue our week-long series “The Road to Resurrection “, as we follow the steps of Christ through Holy Week, the days that led to the Cross, the days that led to the Empty Tomb. Wednesday of that week is sometimes called “Silent Wednesday” because the Bible gives no details about the activities of Jesus on that day. But perhaps the lack of activity is the lesson.

It was a bizarre experience, shared by everyone around the world, shared by you and by me. A time that we’ll always remember, even though we’d probably like to forget. And amid that chaos - on March 27, 2020 - David’s Daily Devotions began.

What’s your favorite book of the Bible? I imagine you have one. The book that you know better than all the rest. The book that you have turned to and returned to time and time again. The book that, more than any other, has shaped and guided your spiritual journey.

Biblegateway.com is one of the world’s most popular online scripture sites. They did a study, using search data, and came up with this list of “favorite” Bible books.

On this date, in 1807, a law was passed in England banning the slave trade throughout the mighty British Empire. John Newton was a leader in the abolitionist movement that made that moment possible. Newton is famous for another reason too. He wrote the classic gospel hymn “Amazing Grace”.

David's Daily Devotion for March 24

March 24, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, March 24.

On March 24, 1930, the very first church service was broadcast on television. It didn’t draw many viewers. The problem was, back then, only a few hundred Americans even had TVs. But from small acorns mighty oaks grow. Almost a hundred years later, 97% of U.S. households have a television, and even most small churches have some kind of broadcast presence.
