October 24, 2024 - Believe it or not, there have been times I have been accused of being too “narrow minded” when it comes to spiritual matters. Yet, Jesus said in Matthew 7:14, “Strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life and few there be that find it.” There are actually other areas of life where you find narrow-mindedness.
There is no room for being broadminded in the chemical laboratory. Water is composed of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. The slightest deviation from this formula means you do not have water.
October 17, 2024 - In our world today, it seems that more and more people care little or nothing for the things of God. There are many who never think of being in the assembly when the saints of God have gathered. Often we speak of these as “waiting for the hearse to take them to church.” Let me ask.
October 10, 2024 - King David, the man after God’s own heart could not build a temple, but he wrote a psalm! Three temples, one after another, crumbled in the dust, but the psalm lives today in the hearts of millions. Through three thousand years, the Twenty-Third Psalm has been a source of inspiration.
October 3, 2024 - The great defense attorney Clarence Darrow once said, “Everyone is a potential murderer. I have not killed anyone, but I frequently get satisfaction out of obituary notices”. We find humor in that because it comes so close to the truth of our lives.
September 26, 2024 - Why do we live in such a mad rush? Why have you been racing about all day as though today is your last day on earth? Why do you sit and pat your foot impatiently when your telephone call is a little slow going through?
September 12, 2024 - One of the things there is too little of in our world today is praise. People have become so filled with critical ideas and harsh words that a little genuine praise and appreciation is often mistaken for flattery. Yet, every heart yearns for appreciation.
September 5, 2024 - If you remember from Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, he had a burning desire to preach the gospel in the Capital city. In Acts 27, we find Paul on his way to Rome, yet he is going as a prisoner. While there he would have great success and members of Caesar’s household would be converted.
August 29, 2024 - There is a tender story told in Mark 14:1-0 of something which happened during some very difficult days for Jesus. The Jewish leaders were plotting his death and He was surrounded by his critics and His enemies. In this narrative, we see Him going to the little village of Bethany. It is the night before Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and He goes to a party in His honor in the home of Simon, a leper.
August 22, 2024 - There is a very beautiful and meaningful passage of scripture in Nahum 1:7. This prophet of God writes, “The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” The Lord is Good. A message of tranquility in a time of trouble.
