August 15, 2024 - The night that Jesus was betrayed, once the Roman soldiers seized Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, things started to happen in rapid succession. He was brought before Annas and then Caiphas and then to the Sanhedrin.
August 8, 2024 - There are very few who are unaware that Pentecost was the birthday of the New Testament Church. However, there never would have been Pentecost with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit like the Apostles had if the upper room had been like the habits of so many in our day and time.
July 31, 2024 - There is a very meaningful passage from the pen of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:21. He writes, “For me to live is Christ”. Have you ever really thought about what that means? What does it mean to say, “for me to live is Christ”?
July 25, 2024 - I read something from Charles Spurgeon the other day where he wrote, "Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened". One thing is sure, that speaks to life in our present world. To be sure, life can be very bewildering at times.
July 18, 2024 - Oftentimes we feel the church is not what it should be. We feel it just doesn’t quite meet “our expectations”. Since the Republican Convention is in full swing, and the Democratic Convention is just a few weeks away, perhaps we should examine the words of two former presidents.
July 11, 2024 - A physician got up a few Sunday’s back to go to church, but he never made it there. The only explanation he gave was “T.B.” Poor Doctor! He spent his life fighting almost every disease known to man and T.B. finally got him.
July 5, 2024 - James would write these words for us in James 3:8-10, “But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”
June 27, 2024 - Have you ever noticed how complicated some folks want to make religion? We live in a world of problems. Preachers even spend a lot of time pointing out the problems of our time. Yet, the world is not asking for an elaboration on the problems, rather the world is seeking solutions to those problems.
It sometimes reminds me of the accident study conducted about accidents in the home. When it was revealed that 90% of all accidents occurred either at the top or bottom of the stairs, the computer solution was to remove the top and bottom step.

June 13, 2024 - This coming Sunday is the day set aside as “Father’s Day.” The day we honor our earthly fathers. With that in mind, I thought the following poem was appropriate. I don’t know who wrote it, I am assuming it was written by that prolific author known as “anonymous.”
I go through life most carefully
For a little fellow follows me.
I do not dare to go astray
For fear he’ll go the self-same way.
