October 28, 2016 - LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved more than $329.5 million for new construction and maintenance contracts statewide at a monthly meeting in Austin. The Lufkin District was allocated $2.5 million for new construction projects and $2.6 million for highway maintenance contracts.
October 13, 2016 Lufkin – A Trinity County TxDOT Maintenance employee is a recipient of the Texas Department of Transportation’s Extra Mile Award after he helped a woman who was trapped in floodwaters recently.
October 10, 2016 LUFKIN – Two county roads are set to be closed in Shelby County as Texas Department of Transportation contractors prepare to replace two off-line county bridges.
Stateline Construction, contractor for the $552,047 project, will close the bridges beginning Tuesday on County Road 4256 at the tributary of Flat Fork Creek and County Road 4670 at McFadden Creek.
October 10, 2016 - Southbound motorists can expect intermittent lane closures and delays throughout the week from 2.1 miles south of SL 224 in Nacogdoches County to the Angelina River Bridge.
Workers will be placing hot mix asphalt to resurface the roadway in the southbound lanes that will require the lane closures. Moore Brothers, contractor for the $1.6 million project, will continue the paving operations for about two more weeks.
October 4, 2016 LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission approved last week $1.1 million earmarked for improvements to the Center Municipal Airport. The money is designated for electrical, pavement and drainage improvements at the airport.
Commissioners approved a total of $17.9 million for improvements in rural airports that included Alice International Airport, Arlington Municipal Airport, Coulter Field (Bryan), Castroville Municipal Airport, McKinney National Airport, South Texas Regional at Hondo Airport, Stephenville Clark Field and Sugar Land Regional Airport.

September 22, 2016 – BU 59 at the A&NR Railroad Bridge is scheduled for closure Saturday and Sunday in order for workers to dismantle and remove the temporary railroad bridge, weather permitting.
September 20, 2016 - Motorists will see a traffic pattern switch this week on US 59 South in a major construction project in Nacogdoches.
Webber Construction, contractor for the $14 million project, will move northbound traffic onto newly constructed concrete pavement near the Spradley Street intersection. Traffic will not be able to cross US 59 on Spradley Street. An elevation difference between new and old pavement will prevent cross movement of traffic at the intersection.

LUFKIN – TxDOT would like to remind residents that while the United States Postal Service has approved larger mailboxes, they have not yet met TxDOT safety standards for placement on state roadways.
September 16, 2016 - Texas Department of Transportation contractors will begin next week a surface overlay project on US 59 from approximately 2 miles south of SL 224 in Nacogdoches County to the Angelina River Bridge at the Angelina County line.
Moore Brothers Construction Company, contractor for the $1.6 million project, will set project barricades on Tuesday and begin road construction by Sept. 26. Work should be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.
