January 12, 2018 - Twenty-six Shelby County teams competed in an 8-week walking challenge to walk across Texas in a physical fitness activity hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Health and Fitness Fair Committee. 936 Cross-fit of Center sponsored top walker prizes.

December 22, 2017 - I was falsely accused last week. A distraught homeowner called about the hordes of insects that had come into her house. They were Lady Beetles looking for a place to overwinter.

October 27, 2017 - Halloween means children getting outdoors to enjoy treats, fun, and games. Although Halloween comes before the change back to Standard Time this year, the days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. With shorter days comes more night driving. Because nighttime driving is more dangerous, it requires extra attention from motorists, as well as pedestrians and bicyclists.

September 14, 2017 - Training for New Master Wellness Volunteer Program begins in October

Finding reliable resources of health and wellness information can be a challenge. Since 1906, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has provided Texans with guidance in various health areas and is now training volunteers to provide more communities with the education and tools needed for healthy living.
