August 9, 2016 -  The Center 12U team representing Texas in the Dixie Youth Majors World Series has battled their way through the bracket to make it to the semi-final round in Mississippi. The Texas team fell to Alabama in Game 1 with a score of 0 to 14. Texas played Tennessee on Sunday and defeated them 6-0 to stay in the running.

Head Coach Jason Mitchell said, "In Mississippi's game, we led the whole game and then in the last inning they had the bases loaded with no outs. And we ended up getting two outs. They made it 7 to 4 and their clean up batter came up and hit a line drive to Jake [Hanson] at short stop. Jake caught the ball and touched second to end the game." Texas played Mississippi Monday and won 7-4.

Tuesday, the Texas team played North Carolina. Mitchell described the same game as played the previous day saying, "Seems like we get to the sixth inning and we give up a few runs, you know, before we finally try to put it away."

Their next game is Wednesday morning at 9am against Georgia, the only undefeated team in the tournament. If Texas beats Georgia, there will be a three way tie - Georgia, Texas, and the winner of the Florida and Alabama game with each team having one loss. The two teams (Texas, Florida/Alabama) will toss to see who will get a bye and who will play Georgia for a chance to play in the World Series Final game.

Well done Center team! You are doing a great job representing your home town and home state vying for the World Series playoffs!
