August 10, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the public to join them at a relocation ribbon cutting for Sassy Red’s Inc., on Thursday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. at their new location at 1000 Tenaha Street in Center. Refreshments will be served.
Sassy Red’s Bakery has relocated and merged with Margaret’s Lamb and Lion Bookstore to become Sassy Red’s Inc. They offer daily confections as well as special order items, Christian books, Bibles, music, and gifts.
August 5, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the public to join them at Southern Seasons Open House, on Friday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. at 5075 State Highway 87 South in Shelbyville. Refreshments will be served and there will be door prize drawings.
Southern Seasons is featuring Hazel Pearl Designs, the in store boutique, that showcases repainted wood furniture in junktique style. Everyone will have the opportunity to meet the artist, Jaeleigh Davis.
July 28, 2016 - The 40th East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank, is slated for October 6, 7 & 8. The festival committee chairs of several events are asking that talented artist save the date and begin to prepare their entries for the featured shows.
July 20, 2016 - Planning is underway for the 40th East Texas Poultry Festival presented by Farmers State Bank, which will take place October 6-8 on the historic downtown Center square, with co-chairmen, Jim Sawyer and Josh Payne, leading the steering committee. According to Polly McKissick Montemayor, Arts and Crafts Committee Chair, vendor applications are being accepted at the Shelby County Chamber office until Friday, August 12.
July 6, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Poultry Festival steering committee announces that plans are underway for the 40th East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank, is slated for October 6, 7 & 8. The festival features several events that showcase artistic talent.
June 30, 2016 - The City of Center invite the public to attend the opening ceremonies of the Texas Youth Regional Tournaments beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1 at the Center Youth Baseball Complex located on Roughrider Dr. Activities for the evening events include games, food and fireworks.
June 29, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the public to join them for a Ribbon Cutting as they welcome Chicken Express, with owners Steve and Selena Windham, at 323 Tenaha Street in Center. The ribbon cutting will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m.
June 24, 2016 - Tenaha will have an Independence Day celebration Monday, July 4 at Tenaha’s Tiger Stadium. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post 520, Tenaha Businessmen’s Club and several businesses from Tenaha and other areas of Shelby County. The program is presented free of charge. The gates will open at 7:00 p.m. The Tipps Trio will provide the entertainment at 8:00 p.m. followed by a large fireworks display at 9:00 p.m.
June 20, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the public to join them at a grand opening ribbon cutting for Adams Barber Shop, on Tuesday, June 21 at 4:00 p.m.
Adams Barber Shop is located at 424 Highway 96 North in Center and is owned by Boyd Adams. Refreshments will be served. Adams Barber Shop has been in business in Texas for over 40 years.

June 15, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce will soon establish the 2016-2017 Class of Leadership Shelby County. Applications are currently being accepted for a year long program designed to identify potential leaders and develop within these individuals the knowledge, skills and vision necessary to enable them to actively participate in the enhancement of their communities.
