April 16, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, April 16.
We continue today with our series “The Road to Resurrection,” focusing on what the Bible tells us Jesus did each day of the week leading to the first Easter. Wednesday of Holy Week is sometimes called “Silent Wednesday” because the Word gives no details about Christ’s activities on that day. Perhaps knowing what was to come, He spent the day in rest and prayer and preparation.
April 15, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, April 15.
We continue our week-long series “The Road to Resurrection”, looking at what Jesus did on each day of Holy Week, each day that led to the Cross, that led to the Empty Tomb. On Monday we saw the very public purging of the temple money changers. And on Tuesday, Jesus and the Twelve were in the temple once again.

One hundred years later, this book has sold over 30 million copies, is a staple in most high school English classes, and is widely considered to be on the short list for The Great American Novel. Happy birthday to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby.”

I’m in the great city of San Antonio for a few days, visiting family. My oldest daughter is here, and my only sister. My two favorite granddaughters are here, as well - my only two! I’ve always liked San Antonio. I grew up in Houston, and lived for fifteen years in Dallas, but the Alamo City is my favorite of the Big Three Texas towns. Almost 20 million people live in these three “metroplexes,” and the majority of them are from the same place - someplace else.

Today is the birthday of a man named Siddhartha Gautama. He was a wandering teacher who lived five centuries before Bethlehem. You may know him by his other name - Buddha. 500 million people follow his teachings today, and today’s devotion is about an encounter I had... with a Buddhist.

What’s the most expensive book in the world? Well, a few years ago, billionaire Bill Gates paid 30 million for the Leonardo da Vinci Codex. That’s a manuscript from the early 1500’s, written in the master’s mysterious hand - he famously wrote backwards from right to left. A nice little volume to have in your personal library.

On April 4, 1975 - 50 years ago today - a young computer nerd started a new business in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bill Gates was just 19 years old. He named his new venture Microsoft, and it grew like a California wildfire. Gates is now worth about 125 billion, and his little software company is valued at over one trillion dollars.
